You’ll notice it’s not possible to post comments here on The CoachAccountable Perspective. Here’s why.

Writing from the client perspective as I do, and being an ostensible outsider as I am, much of what I have to say is like a countermelody to the prevailing tune of the coaching industry. Sometimes it outright contradicts more established orthodoxy. Other times it takes a stand where orthodoxy holds as irrelevant, or just not that important.
Therefore these are nascent ideas. Having comments would open this up as a venue either for tearing down these ideas (for obvious reasons relating to a defense of the status quo), OR for rooting them on. It turns out I don’t want either one. Sure, having people voice their support is nice, but this is not a popularity contest.
Instead, I want these ideas to stand (or fall!) on their own merit for what they are, as assessed by every reader for themselves. You’re invited to map the ideas of any given essay on to your own practice and experience, and evaluate for yourself whether you agree or disagree, i.e. whether you wish to use or discard what you’ve just read. I want that determination to come from your own first principles, and not by bandwagoning on to whatever arguments (for or against) you read in the comments section.
For this fresh batch of perspective, I want this to be a quiet space that invites, challenges, and even demands each reader to grapple with the ideas presented and come to a conclusion for themselves.
Like all good coaching, this sort of grappling is the best way for anything I’m sharing here to make a true and positive difference for your work as a coach.
